Joanne Leone, a member of the West Orange Arts Council, is an award-winning painter and arts educator. A true Jersey Girl, and Newark Arts High graduate, she received her BA in Education from Kean University and a Master in Fine Arts from Jersey City State College.

Her newest exhibit titled “Conversations with My Father” had its opening and reception on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Livingston, New Jersey. This show is sponsored by Art Council of Livingston (ACL) where she is also a member. “Joanne’s artwork integrates many of her impressionable memories of her childhood years and coming of age in Newark, New Jersey,” states Patricia Mitrano, West Orange Arts Council Chair. “Her stories come to life through wistful brushstrokes on the most unusual surfaces, including wood from structures of significance to charms found in childhood treasure chests. All are delightful to behold.” In 2016, one exhibit that was most memorable to Joanne Leone was her participation in the Queen of Angels Church Exhibition called “Queen of Angels: When a Church Dies – Art and Artifacts” show in Newark, NJ.
