The West Orange Arts Council presents “Festivals, Fiestas and Feasts” in observance of Hispanic Heritage Month to celebrate Hispanic culture and the multicultural community where we live. This art exhibit features the work of local artists: Judyann Affronti, Rey Arvelo, Maria Estrela, Stanley Gavidia, Carol Jenkins, Fernando Mariscal, Alex Martinez, Patricia Mitrano, Sylvia Padilla, Hector Perez, Luisa Pinzon and Susan Greenwald.
The show opened on Saturday, September 17, 2022 and runs through October 22, 2022 at the West Orange Arts Center at 551 Valley Road, in West Orange, NJ. An Artist’s Reception was held on Saturday October 1, 2022 from 1-4pm featuring Fenando Davila’s Hispanic and Latin American music. Exhibit gallery hours are Saturdays from 11am – 4pm and by appointment.
The exhibit is an eclectic mix and a festival of color. See work from art educator and West Orange resident Alex Martinez who invites the viewer to his internal diaspora of two cultures. View Hector Perez’ (Latin American Treasures) rag dolls, a handicraft still practiced in many traditional societies; Sylvia Padilla’s Incan imagery of animals of Native folklore and Rey Arvelo’s miniature detailed paintings introspect ion of the unconscious mind with miniature detailed paintings, Judyann Affronti’s felt collage is a personal reinterpretation of the traditional arts of central Mexico and Maria Estrela’s mixed/media collage reflects of her Cape Verdi heritage.

The call for artists is open to West Orange Arts Council members (current and soon-to-be) who are inspired to celebrate Hispanic culture and the multicultural community where we live. All WOAC artists who would like to share their perspective are welcome to enter.
WOAC provides gallery space, marketing support (calendar listings, press release, social media, and email announcements to contacts). Artists are responsible for being present at the West Orange Arts Center by choosing a time during gallery hours Saturdays from 11am -4pm from Sept. 17-Oct.22, 2022, to assist with welcoming guests to the exhibit by signing up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0E44ABA62FAAFD0-woac
Delivery of art at the West Orange Arts Center at 551 Valley Rd., West Orange is Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 11am – 1pm. A reception is being planned for Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1-4pm. At the end of the show, work can be picked up on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022 from 3-4pm
